CHI Oncology Investigators and Research Teams Receive Awards from the National Cancer Institute

CHI oncology investigators and research teams from around the system received a total of 11 awards at the annual meeting of the National Cancer Institute’s Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). This NCI-supported network brings cancer prevention clinical trials and cancer care delivery research to people in their home communities.

Teams and investigators were recognized for successful participation in the many volunteer efforts involving NCI boards, steering committees, task forces, working groups, coordinating committees, and advisory panels. NCORP also presented physicians who have enrolled high number of patients in clinical trials with Physician Accrual Awards. Just 10% of all NCORP-rostered physicians qualified for Physician Accrual Awards at one of three levels:

  • Gold Award: 30-40 total patient accruals
  • Silver Award: 20-29 total patient accruals
  • Appreciation Award: 11-19 total patient accruals
