The Saint Joseph Mount Sterling (SJMS) Foundation, part of KentuckyOne Health, recently awarded three $1,000 scholarships to KentuckyOne nurses in the Mount Sterling area who want to expand their careers in nursing and health care.

Patients and their families regularly depend on a nurse’s physical and mental aid during healing and recovery. The scholarships allow nurses to get the most up-to-date tools and training, which benefits their careers and makes a difference in the lives of the patients they serve.

This is the first year the Saint Joseph Mount Sterling Foundation has awarded scholarships. A reception was held on Oct. 26 at Saint Joseph Mount Sterling to honor those chosen to receive a scholarship: Lana McDonald, who is pursuing a nursing and leadership degree from Western Governors University; Ashley Stephens, who is pursuing a BSN from Walden University; and Cynthia Bailey, who is pursuing a BSN from Morehead University.
