Mercy Nurses, Faculty and Students Help Give Free Flu Shots in Des Moines

Article Text

Mercy College of Health Sciences and Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA, teamed with staff from Joppa, an organization that helps people who are homeless, to provide free flu shots on Feb. 18. The flu shots were donated by Mercy Medical Center and were administered by Mercy nurses, Mercy College nursing faculty and Mercy College nursing students.

Joppa’s food delivery drivers led the way through nine food delivery routes. The nurses, faculty and students followed in separate vehicles and administered flu shots to interested community members. The shots will offer important protection for people in need during a flu season that has claimed 97 lives in Iowa.
