At CHI, information technology acquisitions are reviewed and approved through the Information Technology Services (ITS) Governance process. This process assures alignment of each IT acquisition with CHI’s strategies, architecture, technology standards and security policies.
CHI’s definition of IT acquisitions includes hardware, software, telecommunications services and IT services. It also includes medical technology that is capable of a network interface; can send data, images or text across hospital networks; or can exchange data, images or text with IT applications. For example, Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACs), smart pumps, some patient monitors and network-connected lab equipment are subject to the ITS Governance process.
The ITS Governance process requirement also applies to IT purchases made through HealthTrust Purchasing Group.
